Mukot Himal climbing is an opportunity to trek in remote and rugged Dolpo region combined with trekking and climbing. At the beginning of peak climbing we trek around Dolpo crossing the high passes which will acclimatize and make familiar with altitude.
Mukot Himal (Mukot Peak) is most interesting peak climbing opportunity situated in a remote region of Dolpo in western part of Nepal. Mukot Peak or Mukot Himal is an iconic peak navigated in Dhaulagiri range of western Nepal. The itinerary has been refined since that first trip giving the optimum acclimatisation and time spent in this fascinating region of Dolpo. This is a rare opportunity to make an early ascent of a 6000 metre summit in the Nepal Himalaya, combined with a simply superb trek across the passes to the north of Dhaulagiri massive range. This trekking and climbing holiday starts with a flight into the mountains to Jhupal where we begin a spectacular trek through the Tarap and Barbung Valleys, north of Dhaulagiri, to Mukot, one of the most remote villages in the region. After a programme of acclimatisation and skills training, our aim is to make an ascent of Mukot Peak (6,087m.), a challenging but technically straightforward climb to a spectacular viewpoint for nearby Dhaulagiri and its array of satellite peaks. Following the climb, we will then complete a spectacular crossing of the high country to the north of Dhaulagriri over the rarely used Mu- La pass (5,716m.). Following the successful first ascent of Mukot in 2015 by KE, Ade Summers, one of our most experienced leaders, declared this traverse to be one of his top five all time treks! This is a remarkable opportunity to get off the beaten track in Nepal, to climb to a summit that has had only two ascents and to enjoy one of the best treks in the world.
