Lobuche Peak (6,119m.) is an attractive peak offers various existing routes and also a potential for new ones. Lobuche East West were first ascent by Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa on April 25, 1984. The dark triangle of its rocky East face rises over the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier to a spectacular skyline, forming the south ridge. The peak of Lobuche is reached by descending a marked notch and climbing steep snowy slopes to the top. It has nerve breaking view of the Khumbu valley and its glacier.
There exist two distinct summit to Lobuche peak; Lobuche East (6,119m. - 20,075ft) and Lobuche West (6,145m. - 20161ft ). Although they are connected by a continuous ridge there is a sharp gap and a considerable distance between them. The trekking peak permit is for the east peak, whilst Lobuche west, well seen at the head of the Lobuche glacier, requires and expedition permit. Lobuche is also spelt Lobuje on some maps. Lobuche peak climbing is challenging trekking peaks in Everest region. The normal route for climbing is through South Ridge. Lobuche east peak consists of several small summits and the true summit requires climbing steep snow and ice slopes to the top from the summit ridge. We follow Everest base camp trekking trail up to Pheriche and then trek to Dughla (Thukla) till Mt. Everest Base camp for good acclimatization and same way return to Lobuche then Lobuche Peak Base Camp.
