This superb trek takes us around the Everest region from the more frequented trails which is for any trekker the Everest region is 'the' must-visit destination of Khumbu Valley. However, physically getting there has always been an adventure, the classic expedition approach being long, exhausting and often uncomfortable. The mountain airstrip at Lukla has shortened the route in, and recently, with the building of a series of comfortable tea house lodges, we can walk among the world's highest mountains and retire to a proper bedroom with en suite facilities each evening of day.
The traditionally-built lodges are beautifully situated amongst pretty Sherpa villages and offer magnificent views. We visit the famous monastery at Tengboche and the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazar, as well as exploring temples, palaces and Bazar in Kathmandu Valley. Our descent, surprisingly fast, brings us back to Lukla and to our flight back to Kathmandu.
